As I mentioned in my previous post, I had the opportunity to take some headshots for a close friend of mine recently. Of course, we had to make them a little more fun than bland studio shots, and I’m rather pleased with the results. Happy weekend, everyone.
My dear friend Lauren K is making quite a name for herself in the Edmonton theatre scene. She needed some new headshots, and I happily obliged. This is a little look at what I was up to this afternoon, instead of tackling an alarming amount of homework. It was time well spent. Look for a few more images this weekend.
Thanks for the great company and conversation and Coke drinking, Lauren! You are lovely.
When I discovered Matthias Heiderich a couple of years ago, I instantly knew that I was looking at something very special. This Berlin photographer, who works under the pseudonym “Heartbeatbox,” sees the world in the most unique of terms. Although I greatly admire his art, truthfully, I think I’m grateful that my brain does not operate quite as rigorously as his does.Heiderich possesses the uncanny ability to turn everyday objects–shadows, snow banks, the curved spines of parkades–into stunning abstract and minimalist canvases. Please take a look at more of his work on his site (http://www.matthias-heiderich.de), and/or his well-updated flickr page (http://www.flickr.com/photos/weirdandwired/). Enjoy!
Yesterday, I shot my first wedding of the 2011 season, as well as my first “winter” wedding. (Considering it’s March, however, we’ve had quite the unwelcome cold spell). Nevertheless, I couldn’t have asked for a better initiation. Thanks so much, Amanda + Mike, for asking me to be a part of this day. I have rarely witnessed a couple as genuinely happy or in love as the two of you.
I’ll have a little more of a “first look” up for you in the next week, and a full posting (when I’m on a hiatus from living the life of an all-consuming MA student) come May. As well, look out for a small personal post on my recent reading break trip to the West Coast with a dear friend of mine. Hope everyone’s keeping warm! Best,
A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I had the privilege to take promotional/album shots for my lovely musician friend, Lauren Gillis. She will begin recording an album in the next couple of months and I couldn’t be more excited for her! As promised, here are some more captures from that day. What a beautiful human being.
D & S recently celebrated their tenth anniversary and contacted me to take some portraits of their family on Saturday in one of the most beautiful homes I’ve seen. I had a wonderful time getting to know them and their great kids, and would have never believed that a five year-old, a three year-old, and a one year-old could be so pleasantly cooperative. Thanks so much, Krygers, for asking me to document this meaningful milestone for you!
Here’s a brief preview of some of my favourite captures. More to come in a few weeks!
In other news, I am very happy for the Arcade Fire today.
