I finished up my year at School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa, and had a great exhibition and two portfolios to show from it. (You can view some of that work over at my newly reinvisioned home page: www.carmynjoy.com).
And - speaking of different sites - I’ve created quite a few new pages for my work the past while, too. Including where I will be blogging from.
I apologize for all of the changes, but these minimal platforms are much more on par with what I want aesthetically, and I am attempting to rebrand myself, a little. :) Thanks for your patience, and thanks for taking the time to view my work!
I’ve been threatening in some of my more recent posts, that some big changes were going to be coming, in terms of my website and branding. The latter still has not begun, but the former, certainly has! In short: www.carmynjoy.com - where all of my work was previously housed - will eventually turn into a site that showcases my personal work, and other communications-oriented projects, such as creative writing and design. I’ll be updating this a ton over the summer, when I have more time to work on some of these future projects, and when my semester at school also draws to a close.
What is completed, as of right now, however, is a brand new site showcasing my commercial photography: that is, my wedding and portrait work. Please visit www.carmynjoyphotography.com, and let me know what you think! Thank you so much. As I was building this new site, I had a lot of time to reflect on the incredible clients I have been fortunate enough to work with and call my friends. Your support means everything.
This past weekend, I visited my dear friend, Brittany, in Toronto, and had the most phenomenal time! It was full of getting to know stellar friends in her community, incredible food, the most fantastic concert, laughing oh so much, and a delightful trip to Toronto Island on a crisp Sunday afternoon. Here are some iPhone captures of our mini nautical adventure.
I had the pleasure of spending time with some quality couples and families over the Christmas break, of which Jana and Jeremy were the first. I can’t say enough good things about these two, and am looking forward to taking part in their summer wedding. Jana, you’ve been such an encouragement to me, and I appreciate your words more than you realize. Thanks so much - both of you!
I hope everyone is keeping warm and well. Happy Sunday!
If you don’t follow me on Instagram, this will be a new little peek into what I’ve been documenting of my everyday life with my iPhone, lately.
In the meantime, I’m madly editing winter sessions and working on some exciting analogue projects for school. I’ll have some of those aforementioned portrait sessions up, as soon as my clients have had a chance to look at them, first. :)
Some day, I will also finally have what I’ve been plugging away on for SPAO up, too. I really do need to start up a different blog, however, as I’d like to separate both of these entities of my work. Hopefully, that can be done at some point in the near future.
Check back soon, my friends. I hope you’re all well!
Happy new year! I hope that all of you were able to celebrate the start of 2013 in a joyful way. I had a fantastic time on the eve of the 31st with friends in Calgary, and was able to spend some time skiing in Lake Louise a few days prior. What an incredibly beautiful experience it was. I’ll leave you with a few iPhone photographs of that time, as well as an important update regarding my site.
Unfortunately, my website and business email are currently down. I am so sorry for the inconvenience, but it’s a situation out of my control, at the moment. In short, I did request and pay to have my domain renewed a number of weeks ago, but the company I am with allowed it to expire, anyways. I apologize, and ask that you either message me with inquiries through my FB fan page, or send me an email via my personal account: firstname.lastname@example.org. I hope to have all of this straightened out as soon as possible.
Many thanks! Enjoy the upcoming weekend. All best,
When Imogen was only a few weeks old, my classmate, Jana, and her husband, Ian, approached me to commemorate her birth. I was thrilled when I received another email from them this fall, asking me to take some updated family portraits for them. We had a fantastic time this morning, exploring a favourite book shop, and even braving the minus 30 weather for a few quick shots outside. Thanks so much, Elfords! I had a great time, and wish you a wonderful holiday season. It was so hard to narrow this preview down to just these few favourites. What photogenic beauties. :)
